Privacy Policy

Peptide House operates an online store supplying research peptides for laboratory and scientific use. This policy sets out how we collect, hold, use, and disclose personal information in connection with our website and the orders placed through it. We handle personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles set out in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

By browsing our site or placing an order, you are entrusting us with certain personal details, and we take that responsibility seriously. This policy is written to be read by customers rather than lawyers, so where a term needs explaining, we explain it.

Our Products Are Sold for Research Use Only

Before describing our data practices, it’s worth being clear about what we sell, because it shapes some of the information we ask for. Peptide House supplies products intended exclusively for laboratory research, in vitro experimentation, and other non-clinical scientific purposes. Our products are not manufactured, tested, or labelled for human consumption, ingestion, or any therapeutic, cosmetic, or veterinary application. Customers purchase on the basis that they are acquiring research material and that they bear sole responsibility for how it is handled and stored.

This context matters for privacy because it means we are not collecting or holding health information about you in the way a pharmacy or clinic would. We don’t ask about medical conditions, prescriptions, or treatment history, and we’d ask that you don’t volunteer this information to us either.

Information We Collect

When you create an account or place an order, we collect your name, email address, phone number, delivery address, and billing details. If you pay by card, your payment information is captured and processed directly by our payment gateway provider; we do not store full card numbers on our own systems. Where you contact us by email, live chat, or a contact form, we keep a record of that correspondence so we can respond properly and refer back to it if needed.

We also collect some information automatically as you use our site. This includes your IP address, the type of browser and device you’re using, which pages you visit, and how you navigate through the site. This is gathered through standard web analytics tools and cookies, described further in section 9 below.

Because our products are restricted to verified adult researchers, we may also ask you to confirm your age and, in some cases, your intended research use, as part of our order acceptance process. We do not independently verify institutional affiliation unless you choose to provide it, and we don’t require proof of academic or laboratory credentials to complete a purchase.

How We Use the Information We Collect

We use your information primarily to process and dispatch your orders, including generating invoices, arranging courier pickup, and sending tracking updates. We use your contact details to respond to enquiries, handle returns or quality concerns, and let you know about anything that affects an order you’ve placed, such as a stock delay or a courier issue.

Where you’ve opted in, we use your email address to send occasional updates about new product lines, batch testing results, or promotions. You can opt out of these at any time without affecting your ability to place orders.

We also use aggregated, de-identified browsing data to understand which products and pages are getting attention, so we can keep the site fast, fix things that aren’t working, and decide what to stock. Finally, we use account and order information to detect unusual activity, such as fraudulent payment attempts or attempts to circumvent our research-use terms, and to meet our obligations under consumer law, tax law, and any other legislation that applies to us.

Who We Share Information With

We don’t sell or rent personal information to anyone. We do share it with a small number of parties who help us run the business. Our payment processor receives the information needed to authorise and process your transaction. Our courier and logistics partners receive your name, delivery address, and contact number so they can get your order to you. Our email platform receives your email address to send order updates and, where you’ve consented, marketing communications. Web hosting and IT infrastructure providers may have technical access to data as part of keeping the site running, and our analytics provider receives usage data that is aggregated and not used to identify you individually.

We may disclose information where we’re legally required to, such as in response to a court order, subpoena, or lawful request from a regulator or law enforcement agency. We may also disclose information if necessary to investigate suspected fraud, enforce our terms of sale, or protect the safety or rights of our customers, staff, or the public. If Peptide House is ever sold, merged, or restructured, customer information may be transferred to the new owner as part of that transaction, and we’ll let affected customers know if that happens.

Security of Your Information

We use industry-standard safeguards to protect the information we hold, including encrypted connections between your browser and our servers, restricted internal access to customer data, and secure handling of payment details through a PCI-compliant gateway. Staff access to personal information is limited to what’s needed to do their job, whether that’s fulfilling an order or answering a support ticket.

No system connected to the internet can be guaranteed completely secure, and we can’t promise that information transmitted to us will never be intercepted or accessed without authorisation. If we become aware of a data breach that’s likely to result in serious harm, we’ll notify affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner in line with our obligations under the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.

How Long We Keep Your Information

We keep order and transaction records for at least seven years, as required under Australian taxation and business record-keeping laws. Account information is kept for as long as your account remains active, and we’ll delete or de-identify it within a reasonable period after you ask us to close your account, unless we’re required to retain it for legal or regulatory reasons. Marketing contact details are kept until you unsubscribe or until we have no ongoing need to hold them.

Accessing and Correcting Your Information

You can ask us at any time for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and we’ll provide it within a reasonable timeframe, subject to any exceptions that apply under the Privacy Act. If you believe any of the information we hold about you is incorrect, outdated, or incomplete, you can ask us to fix it, and we’ll do so unless we have a valid reason not to, in which case we’ll explain why.

You’re also entitled to ask us to delete your personal information, though we may need to retain certain records, such as transaction history, to comply with tax and consumer protection laws. If you’d like to make any of these requests, or if you have a complaint about how we’ve handled your information, email us at support@peptidehouse.com.au and we’ll get back to you. If you’re not satisfied with our response, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

Our website uses cookies to keep your cart contents intact as you browse, remember your login session, and understand broadly how visitors use the site. Some cookies are essential to the site working properly, such as those that keep you logged in or remember what’s in your cart. Others are used for analytics, helping us see which pages are popular and where visitors run into friction. If we ever run advertising campaigns, we may use marketing cookies, but only with your consent, and you’ll always have the option to decline them.

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies through their settings. If you choose to do this, some parts of the site, particularly the cart and checkout, may not work as intended.

Age Restrictions

Our products are restricted to adults aged 18 and over, and our website is not directed at, or intended for use by, minors. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can investigate and delete it as appropriate.

Where Your Information Is Stored

Some of the service providers we rely on, such as our hosting and email infrastructure, may store or process data on servers located outside Australia. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure those providers handle your information in a manner consistent with the protections set out in this policy and the Australian Privacy Principles.

Links to Other Websites

Our site may occasionally link to third-party websites, such as a courier’s tracking portal or a payment provider’s page. Once you leave our site, this policy no longer applies, and we’d encourage you to check the privacy practices of any site you visit.

Updates to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or in the law. The version published on our website is always the current one, and the “last updated” date at the top will tell you when it last changed. If a change is significant enough that we think you’d want to know about it directly, we’ll email registered customers ahead of, or shortly after, the change taking effect.

Getting in Touch

If you have any questions about this policy, want to access or correct your information, or have a privacy concern you’d like us to look into, contact us at support@peptidehouse.com.au. If you’ve raised a concern with us and aren’t satisfied with how it’s been handled, you can escalate the matter to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
